Laurence Marans
Laurence Marans is the President of Diamond Edge Hospitality Solutions, a company focused on frontline Training and consulting for the Hotel/Hospitality industry.
On February 1, 2007, Mr. Marans launched www.wetrainhotels.com. This cutting edge website is residence for a number of powerful web-based training programs which support greater guest care while improving property RevPAR (Revenues per Available Room). This site is also the home for Diamond Edge Training Solutions, which provides a variety of property-based learning solutions: Diamond Edge Seminars are about creating an atmosphere where teams are trained in best hospitality practices, and empowered to drive bottom line revenues. The most valuable asset we have is our people. Their constant interaction with our guests ensures the guest returns… and remains loyal.
From 1991 to 2006, Laurence Marans was the Vice-President of Operations for Best Value Motel Inc. and Diamond Hotels Inc. In this capacity he was responsible for the birth and development and all aspects of day-to-day operations (including successful food and beverage operations) of Days Inn – Kingston, Days Inn – Sault Ste. Marie and Radisson Hotel Kingston Harbourfront. During this time, he developed many inventive in-house training programs.
Mr. Marans was also very active during this period in the Ontario Regional Alliance for Days Inn. He was responsible for introducing the “Stay 9 Nights, 10th Night Free” Program (1992 at the Alliance level which later became the backbone of the Days Inns – Canada Frequent Stay Program. (Program ended in 2004). Mr. Marans also initiated and sat on the committee which created the +GX (Positive Guest Experience) program for Days Inns – Canada, the first Canadian Guest Service Staff Training program implemented across a two star chain. He has sat on the Days Inns – Canada Franchise Committee (2004-05).
Mr. Marans was also a founding member (2004) of Kingston Accommodation Properties (K.A.P.), a successful, non-profit organization devoted to marketing Kingston, Ontario, Canada (www.visitkingston.ca). Mr. Marans is currently treasurer of this organization and is active on the marketing committee. This organization is considered to be one of the most successful of its type in Canada. To date, Kingston has outperformed competitive markets for the tourist dollar. In addition, the organization has made strategic infrastructure investments in projects which support its overall goal of growing the market.
